Questions to ask the owners
This list will help ensure that you've asked all the important questions before you start talking about offers...
- Which features and fittings are included in the sale: curtains, carpets, dishwasher, washer / dryer, garden furniture?
- Has any building work been done on the property since the owners moved in? If so, who did the work?
- What’s the average cost of electricity, gas, heating and water bills?
- Does the garden get sun? At what times of day?
- Are there any trees nearby that could harm the foundations?
- Is the property tied to a chain?
- Has the property, or any neighbours, ever been robbed?
- What are the neighbours like?
- Is visitor parking in the area easily available?
- How much is the council tax for the area? (Check it at www.voa.gov.uk/council_tax )
- How quickly would the owners like to move?
- How long has the property been on the market?
